ANAB and PRI agree on a joint process to get both Nadcap Materials Testing Laboratory and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from one audit!

13 March 2017

The Performance Review Institute (PRI) is proud to officially announce its new agreement with ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB). Being a significant step forward in achieving the highest aerospace industry standards meanwhile containing the audit-related costs, this agreement allows companies to achieve both Nadcap Materials Testing Laboratory (MTL) and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditations through a single joint audit.

This initiative aims not only to reduce audit-related costs but also to increase the productivity and effectiveness of the accreditation process for laboratories in the aerospace industry. The initial focus will be on the current Nadcap MTL scopes in Chemical Analysis, Mechanical Testing, Metallography, Hardness Testing, Corrosion, and Fastener Testing, with future growth planned into other testing areas.

The joint Nadcap MTL and ISO/IEC 17025 audit will be performed by PRI on the same basis as a standard Nadcap audit. The pre-audit, audit, and audit review processes will remain similar, conducted via eAuditNet and performed by PRI’s Nadcap MTL auditors and staff engineers, but upon successful completion, PRI will issue a Nadcap MTL accreditation while ANAB will issue an ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

“We believe the laboratory community will welcome and benefit from having an option to reduce audit time through the efficiencies of a joint assessment program,” Roger Muse, ANAB Vice President of Business Development, said. The collaboration between PRI and ANAB is one of a kind in the aerospace industry. It is the result of the shared willingness to improve the overall audit process. Joe Pinto, PRI Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said that “This collaboration represents a great achievement for both the accreditation bodies and the suppliers in the aerospace industry. It shows a new path how to improve efficiency, quality and the use of resources within the industry.”

Any company who is interested in gaining the Nadcap and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditations through a single joint audit is encouraged to contact Jim Lewis, Nadcap Program Manager, at jlewis@p-r-i.org or +1 724 772 1699.
